Runner’s Legs

If I ever love again
I hope he has runner’s legs
That have traveled many trails
And tread through difficult terrain
I want to love someone
Who prefers foot adventures
Along river bends and up mountain summits
Their legs guiding them to distant lands
One who is willing
To spend that time reflecting
Enduring the hard work that it takes
To be a better man
Humbled and happy
I want to tangle my legs in his legs
Both of us content and worn
We will travel on our own two feet
Free to forge our own paths
Yet facing the world together
Smiling
